about

Use this alien translator to translate the alien language of the Irkens for a more enlightened experienced.

You're welcome. ;3

(P.S. I know there's an ACTUAL Irken language that's NOT like this one, but, PLZ bear with me here XD)

Regarded as one of Nickelodeon's strangest cult classic Nicktoons to date, Invader Zim premiered on March 30, 2001. It was targeted at children in their early teens, and met with critical acclaim. After the first season, the show's ratings began to suffer. Before the second season was completed, Nickelodeon cancelled the series, leaving at least sixteen episodes unfinished.

The show was praised for it's gritty humor, spectacular cast of awe-inspiring characters, plot progression (or lack thereof if you wanna look at it THAT way) and was also well known for it's underground fanbase amassing tons upon tons of followers, regardless of the show's ratings.

To quote Google's synopsis of the show, "Zim dreams of greatness. Unfortunately, though, he's hopelessly inept as a space invader. Desperate to be rid of the annoying Zim, his planet's leaders send him on a mission to infiltrate Earth, providing him with leftover, cobbled-together equipment. To their consternation, Zim succeeds in setting up a base on Earth and infiltrating human culture, posing as a human child as he plots the planet's downfall. Only Zim's archnemesis, Dib, recognizes that Zim is an alien, and of course, nobody believes Dib's claims."

Thanks, Google.

Anyways, the creator of Invader Zim, Jhonen Vasquez, has gone on the record of saying that, "Nickelodeon contacted me about doing a show for them. That's how Invader Zim happened."

As for his skills and experience in animation, he goes on to say that, "But, I had never done animation before that point, like, I don't animate myself. I'm not an animator. I'm more, like, I come up with the ideas and, then, someone animates them, and I'm just like sitting back and laughing. And then, I just reap the benefits. But, that's how it happened."

Thanks, Jhonen.

Now, as for the album itself, this album is meant to be a tribute to Invader Zim and all of it's gritty aspects and humor of the show, whilst sticky to my plunderphonics roots, albeit, with an alien twist to it.

This also ties in to my experience with Invader Zim, as well. Growing up, I had a hard time understanding the world, especially when it came to my autism. With this autism, I felt like I was completely different from everyone else, completely a l i e n a t e d from everyone else simply become of my many (not just one) mental illnesses.

Then, Invader Zim came along, and it gave me a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair.

For once, I could actually relate to someone who's completely different from me. For once, I could actually take the time to notice my surroundings, even if I completely fail at recognizing them at first and responding to them appropriately.

My Fans: So wait...you're saying that you can relate to a socially inept Irken alien that is hellbent on world domination?

Me: Well, if you take out the "hellbent on world domination" part, then, yeah. Pretty much. :3

On August 19, 2006, Invader Zim aired it's final episode, "The Frycook What Came from All That Space". It was set to be the show's final sendoff.

But, of course, we ALL know he's coming back.

See 4 Yourself!
